I really love the guidance to pause before we override. We really are programmed to move ahead, to keep rolling despite what our bodies might be saying. I can't tell you how many times I've faced the consequences of doing that. And yet, as I've been sitting with sickness all week, I find myself equally programmed to seek out what I did (or didn't do) to cause the illness. The question that kept coming up was: what bodily signals did I override that resulted in this sickness? And my guides relentlessly told me to stop asking that question. The framework of cause and effect has its place for sure, but we're being invited to also be able to hold other frameworks. Like, instead of this caused that, I might ask...what is arising in this moment together that I am participating in? I love all of this call to awareness! Thank you! 💖💖
You have smart guides there Jenna! Yes there really is no true benefit in ruminating. But where can we go from here? What is the body saying now? Listening to our bodies is a true art. One that I believe came more naturally to our ancestors. In our current day and age we're incredibly mind focused, the body's language is overrun with what we have been programmed with. It's a relearning, a coming home to our natural animal body that reads nature and knows the path of the stars. 💜
Thanks Cheryl! And I shared this on you restack: Yep, you so nailed it Cheryl. A place to exist. The in between, the liminal, has become a place for me of great comfort. Yes challenge too, but this pause is where I most deeply feel my connection to life, to everything. 💜
Thank you! I think there's a lot of peace to be found when you realize our entire life happens in the in-between, suddenly it doesn't need escaping. Not always fun, but still it is where life is.
That noticing, then adjusting and the weight of not trusting the body and moving on. That’s so familiar. The pause and presence can break the stillness.
This really resonated — especially the way you describe that moment before anything is spoken, where something in your body already knows.
What stood out is how subtle that first signal is… and how quickly it can be moved past. Even when it's sensed, something in us is already organised around staying with what’s familiar & what keeps things stable.
I’ve been noticing that sometimes the signal is clear, but the ability to stay with it isn’t there yet. It's as though something deeper hasn’t reorganised enough to hold what that signal would actually change.
Your piece captures that moment so well — the pause where something is known, and the choice of whether we remain with it or move past it. There’s something really important in that space.
I feel you Vanessa. Yes so subtle. Almost delicate. While also being deeply clear and accurate.
It does take time... intention... and listening. To rewire our brains and nervous system, to shift our behavior more towards the signal than the patterns of living. These patterns can be so deeply grooved and rooted. As you said a familiarity that is hard to ignore. And yet that is exactly what is being asked by these signals.
We are not robots, where the program is plugged in and we just act accordingly. We do have agency and these signals remind us of that.
This is such a profound piece of writing my dear friend. Oh, if I was always able to listen to that little voice....and then, in not listening at times, the lessons, the wisdom, the self forgiveness (which I am still working on!!)
I really resonated with this piece Julie and I thank you for reminding me/us of the subtle voice that lives deep within...the place within that is a profound Threshold. Blessings to you dearest one. x
Thanks Sam. I'm so glad this resonated with you. As I was writing this it took me deeper than I would have imagined. Through creating this piece, I truly saw how beautiful the body and intuition are and how they just signal. Just like nature, the divine, life. It's all right here, always present, always communicating. It doesn't judge or force, it just signals. There is something deeply profound about that. And quite loving. Blessing to you to dear one! 💜
This couldn't have been more resonant for me, Julie - I feel like practicing this kind of embodied discernment is the bulk of my "work" these days, what I try to support others in doing, and what I fervently hope to bring to all my interactions. I deeply believe it's the best use of my resources - and it's what helps me to connect in any sort of meaningful way with other IRL humans, animals, and plants, as well as the unseen beings that I'm in relationship with (the indwelling parts of myself, ancestors, helper guides, land spirits and more). That said, more of my life has been spent paying attention to my head, dismissing my body's wisdom, and abandoning myself, and I can still easily default to that.
I especially love these lines: "And the question isn't whether it is there/The question is whether you will stay long enough to notice it..."
Thanks so much for naming all of this so clearly, Julie, and with such sturdiness. 🙏💞🙏
Thanks so much Keith! YES!!! I love what you are saying here. By listening to our bodies and intuition we can connect in so many other profound ways too. It truly is a doorway to so much more life and relationality, way beyond what the mind can even begin to comprehend. We have been taught to make science, mind, logic, etc. more important. It truly becomes about unlearning that and remembering what many of our old time ancestors naturally knew. And it still lives within us, in our bones and blood. 💜
I love this piece, and especially the opening where you slow the process down that we (the readers) can feel the moment-by-moment shifts that happens we override pur knowingness. This is what’s needed, a stop-action internal film that tracks the shifts and names them so we can discern the message underneath.
Thanks Linnea. And I agree, for I learned so much about this process and myself by writing that personal experience. It became more alive. And I really anchored in knowing that our bodies and intuition, just signal. It became my mantra, then it became the mantra for this post. 💜
YES! This is so much a part of the rising of the Divine Feminine, Julie. You shine the light so beautifully on what we have been unconsciously conditioned to suppress♥️🔥🙏🏼
I shared this on your restack: YES This is a HUGE part of the Divine Feminine. The ability to step out of the hierarchical mind and enter the womb of our bodies. To hear her whispers, the wisdom of life communicating.
Added... How can our world learn to not be so dominating and hierarchical if we can't be more egalitarian with ourselves first. To come home to our animal bodies. 💜

Discernment — so important. Feel into listening, as I have come to know it. Thank you. 🙏💖
Discernment, listening, feeling... you named it! Thank you Simone! 💜
🙏🌀💖
There is a moment before the body becomes something to listen to.
Not yet a signal,
not yet a sensation,
not even something that asks to be understood.
A slight shift
that does not belong to the body
or to the mind.
And when it is not followed,
not interpreted,
not moved into,
it does not disappear.
It remains.
Not clearer,
not stronger,
but untouched by the movement
that would turn it into something else.
And perhaps what is called intuition
is already a second step.
Something closer
is always there,
before it becomes something
we can notice.
Beautiful Antonio! So important to pause, listen, remain.
Being here.
Right here.
Letting life come to me, rather than reaching out for it. 💜
Super interesting, I have called this the In Between for as long as I can remember and it is not a place to escape, but to exist.
Thanks Cheryl! And I shared this on you restack: Yep, you so nailed it Cheryl. A place to exist. The in between, the liminal, has become a place for me of great comfort. Yes challenge too, but this pause is where I most deeply feel my connection to life, to everything. 💜

Yes to the pause, yes to the presence that can be there! 💜

This is so good. That is all. Just thank you.
Thanks Eva! 💜
My body feels open and relaxed when something is aligned and tight or contracted in my chest and belly when something is off.
Perfect timing with this post. 💜 Thank you, sister 🌹
Yep me too! So clear, so simple, just signals. The harder part is truly listening, deciphering the message and then heeding it.
Glad this arrived at a needed time. Big hug Alysia! 💜
