Welcome to this special edition within Liminal Walker Musings… Honoring the 12 Days of Yule!
This retreat space is created here just for you, as token of gratitude for being a subscriber! My invitation is for us to embrace this time of year by contemplating, practicing and writing together. Releasing the hustle and bustle that can accompany this season, even if only for ten minutes, and deepen into simply being present and authentic with what is here. Intentionally honoring what is unfolding in our lives, while having fun and celebrating along the way!
Please feel free to share your insights, feelings and especially your poetry related to the key word of the day in the comment section. At the same time, there’s no pressure. Write for yourself, write to share within this safe community, but most importantly, take time to contemplate and reflect. How is this theme showing up and moving in your life?

Ritual
Put some time aside.
Prepare your environment,
tidy it up and clear an area.
Open to this place of sanctuary,
within and without.
See this time here,
as a sacred space, an intention to simply be.
Pause… Breathe… Inhale… Exhale…
Be present, right here, right now,
nowhere else to be but here.
Open your heart, mind and being,
All of you is welcome here.
All of you!
As we light this first candle of Yule
know this flame as your inner flame.
This spark as your spark.
As we open to our word for today…
INSPIRATION
Traditionally, the first day of Yule is known as Mother’s Night, a sacred time to honor the ancestors of our matrilineal line. It’s a purposeful moment to give homage to the female spirits that weave through the tapestry of time. Our ancestors can be our greatest supporters, offering wisdom and guidance as we navigate our human experience, through struggles, frustrations, triumphs, and growth.
With that said, it’s totally okay to not want to seek connection with some of our ancestors! Instead, this is about aligning ourselves with those who are there to offer supportive influence. Empowering us to live our truths by honoring the sacred flow of life that we are a part of.
This night also offers an opportunity to honor the Divine Feminine: the Goddesses, our Mother Earth, and all feminine energies that sustain, guide and empower us. She is the sacred spark of life, inviting us to open our hearts and bellies to inspiration and passion. Reconnecting with our inner flame that fuels creativity and imagination. Motivating us to express ourselves. Or to simply be inspired, like being filled with a sense of awe when witnessing a beautiful sunset, a piece of artwork, the flight of a hawk…
Tarot/Oracle Reading
This first reading for our 12 days of Yule, is an initiation. Guiding us as we take our first step on this journey together. Asking, what do we need to pay attention to? How can we be with the themes?
FROST: This card points to divination and signs. Recognizing that life is always speaking to us, but not in a language of words. It comes as nudges, clues, symbols and codes. Can you read the palm of life? The crystals formed by frost? Pay attention here! You are already fluent; you just need to remember. Relearn, increase your capacity and understanding by following the signs!
KNIGHT OF SWORDS: Ah the quick minded and fast actioned knight takes flight on a quest. See how quickly he is moving away from the Oracle card. If we have blinders on, only focused on a mission, we may miss out on the signs and signals life is giving us. It takes a quieter mind to find inspiration in what is here.
THE CHARIOT: The charioteer has their eyes closed, listening and heeding the inner messages. Trusting this unseen guidance, paying attention to the signs. They know the sphinxes are fully capable of navigating this journey for they are hearing this call as well.
Tarot Deck: Symbolic Soul Tarot
Oracle Deck: Season of the Witch, Yule
Journal Prompts or Questions for a Tarot Spread
How can I open to the potency of passion and inspiration?
What am I being called to create right now?
What do I need to release in order to allow inspiration to flow more freely?
What talents or abilities do I need to embrace?
How can I best channel my inspiration into something meaningful?
What message do my ancestors or spiritual guides have for me around inspiration?
Poem
Inspiration whispers…
A spark, a sunbeam, a glimmer,
weaves its magic within my heart.
Both the warp and weft interlacing,
the directions, inner and outer,
above and below, connecting together.
A tapestry of moments, ever unfolding,
threads of time, entwined in silence.
Inspiration whispers…
The quiet air, unseen but felt,
a soft touch that kisses my cheek.
Currents of wind becoming my breath,
ebbing and flowing, giving and receiving.
No expectation, just a natural exchange,
life to life. In the blink of an eye,
a fleeting pulse in the vastness of eternity.
Inspiration whispers…
Voices of numerous sounds, both soft and loud.
A gentle yet fully resonant song,
singing in bold colors and delicate hues.
Every word, a sigh, every hum, an echo,
a call that requires a response.
A stirring deep within my soul.
Inspiration rouses and answers.

I love this so much, Julie! 💕💕 This first Yule retreat post has inspired me to deeply connect with The Great Mother. And then, I felt further inspired to try a new practice of spontaneous spoken poetry, to let words for The Great Mother flow out of me, instead of being written down, to let them be of air that can float to her and dissipate. Thank you, thank you for this glorious start to Yule!
This question resonated this morning: What do I need to release in order to allow inspiration to flow more freely? In my morning practice, I was reminded to let go of old stories that are no longer needed right here, right now. To allow these old stories to be enveloped by the dark - void of these long winter nights. I release these old stories now to symbolically make way for the new stories/patterns I wish to embody as the light returns. Also, as I write this on my deck, three playful yellow butterflies swoop about. I had a vision a few months ago of a kaleidoscope of butterflies as my ancestors. How divine to look up from typing my response and see these dancing beings in front of me. Thank you Julie for inviting into these last days of the year with intention.
