Wow! This is so good, Julie! 💖💖 I found myself filling up with all kinds of new ideas while reading this. I especially loved the exploration of both the RWS and Thoth systems. I think my tendency is to prefer Justice as VIII, because I like to think of 8s as a return to center. Regardless, as I was reading, I was thinking about the root word 'just' which makes up both Justice and Adjustment. It basically means "right" and "right" has all kinds of meanings. And when we think of one person's idea of right compared to another's, we can see why justice gets so complicated. When we need to justify our actions/thoughts/feelings (wanting to make ourselves "right"), what we're looking for is validation. And, unfortunately, our current system often teaches that I can only be validated when someone else is made wrong (which is why I think vengeance and punishment have become conflated with justice). But, as you've so beautifully explained here, we can tap into the energy of this card and open ourselves to a restoration of true relationship with the archetype of Justice. Thank you, as always, for your deep guiding wisdom! Love you!
Thanks Jenna! I have been wanting to write about this archetype for some time now. I would start and then stop. But now felt the time to dig in. It's because this is such a convoluted subject, just as you so beautifully demonstrated as the many "rights"! Rights as both traps that we fall into and maps that we can follow. And also, as you pointed out, punishment is conflated with justice, which can make justice have negative connotations. I find Justice beautiful, and it was a joy to explore her! Thanks again for your comments dear friend, it always brings more depth to the subject! 💜
This is a great topic Julie, I received a message last week that the point of justice is to bring everything back into balance, that it is all interconnected, which is echoed throughout your words. No matter what deeper emotions we are processing about what is happening, it is to be a fair process, not to punish or point out what was wrong, but to bring peace. In which we can find our own peace too. xx
Thanks Louise! And I love the synchronicity of you receiving a similar message. Yes, True Justice is not static or passive. It's active and organic. It listens and responds accordingly in a way that takes into consideration all involved. Similar situations might even lead to different outcomes. This is the power of the heart, adjustments and balance. May we all find this true justice in our lives and in our world! 💜
Thank you Julie for this deeply thought provoking post on active justice. I too am astonished at the chaos unfolding in our world and saddened by the lack of compassion. May we lead in love. 💗
Thanks Becca and yes may lead with love! It's very simple really. If we could all listen to our heart, to nature, to life, we would live in a very different world, where true Justice is the conscience we live by. 💜
Thank you dearest Julie for this exploration of Justice. What came to me when I read your post "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me...."
Oh, I loved this post, Julie! The whole thing was resonant, but for me, most deeply so the wisdom offered by the Thoth deck's embodiment of the universal law of balance in the form of Adjustment. "The universe responds, it doesn't moralize." This kind of non-judgmental justice is what lands as true in my body. Recalibration rather than retribution and punishment...yes, yes, YES. This is how nature operates! When there is an imbalance, it results in a disturbance or disruption of some sort. Not as a retribution, but in a way that eventually leads back to greater balance. Thank you so much for interpreting this ancient wisdom and spelling it out with such clarity. ⚖️✨🕊️🙏❤️🔥
In general, I vibe with the Thoth message more than RWS. Which is why through the years I have used Thoth decks more than RWS ones. But there are many decks that cross over and are a wonderful blend of the two!
Keith thanks so much for you comment! Yes, I too feel that deep connection to nature that only responds and doesn't judge. There is no moral, ethical road to take. No condemnation, no retribution... only an adjustment to keep life in balance. There is being static and being chaos. And stasis is the liminal space between the two. This balance that consists of readjusting. True pure Justice is a powerful force in our world. If only our government would listen to nature, they could learn a thing or two. This is why I return to the old, ancient ways. We need to remember what we really are, a member of a tribe that is all connected by life. 💜🌀🙏
I'm so glad you have introduced me to the Thoth deck, thank you Julie. And I love this definition of stasis being the liminal space between static and chaotic states. All of this just sent me looking for that MLK quote, which your reply also reminded me of: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice" ⚖️❤️🔥

in honour of the wisdom you share. x
Thanks Sam. And that quote is totally what it's about.
What am I bringing to life? And how am I responding? Best these answers both include love and peace. 💜
