Such a powerful piece. Literally makes the blood thrum with the knowledge that we are born of wilder things. ❤️

YES - born of wilder things. I agree. We forget that we are animals. We have become so tamed and domesticated. Wonderful to remember the more wild and feral parts of our nature. To beat the drum, to dance passionately, to enter the untamed. ❤️

Julie, this is so well written and organized. I just absolutely love it. I too my entire life have been dancing with the snake metaphorically and literally well done.

Thank you

Oh! Just made the Medusa connection! And yes to dancing with the snake. Our society is about the line, moving more robotically. The snake slithers, coils and undulates. At try at some point in my day to intentionally move my body circularly and more snake like. Really shifts things.

I'd love for you to read this piece on adam and eve and hwo their story is, in one way or another, a love story: https://naomimelaku25.substack.com/p/eternity-to-exile

Thank you for sharing this post Naomi! As you said, there are so many ways to interrupt this story. And I question, how has this story/myth changed through the years, especially before the Council of Nicea. I loved the many angles and perspectives you viewed this story with. Exactly what myth invites us to do. To not just choose one way, blinders on and then plow through. No, its an invitation to meander, to wonder, to uncover deeper meanings and symbolism. You did just that! I love how Adam took a bite because of love! That is plainly and completely beautiful!

Oh my gosh! I'm getting caught up on substack reading after my time away and this piece has been burning a hole in my inbox. So, so good!!! I've learned a lot about Lilith and Eve but this is the first time I've read about them working together. What brilliance! Not only has there been so much shame taught about both of them, but it's always felt to me like an either/or situation. But Lilith and Eve together, holding hands like in the picture you posted, now that's REAL power. That's whole femininity. And it's been tucked away, a secret within in the story all along. Thank you for bringing this to light! 💖💖💖

Thanks Jenna! Yes the writing, the story told, had to go that direction because Lilith and Eve were asking it to. When I found that picture of them holding hands, something in my body completely relaxed. Tears filled my eyes. Yes, it had to be that picture. It touched me so deeply and healed something primal in me, that I don't even know what! Again, appreciate you words here. ❤️

This. Is. So. Powerful.

WOW! WOW! WOW!

This is the medicine that we need at this time... Strong, Real, True Feminine Energy. Thank you for taking the veil off and for writing this post, for inviting us to take our own veil off and for helping us all rewrite the book of what it means to be a Woman.

Thank you dear one. Thank you.

Ahh thanks Sam! I so appreciate what you have said here. I started writing this post right before election day here in the states. When the results came in, this essay and the process of writing it really anchored me. Important to remember the deeper truths behind the smoke and mirrors. Yes, to taking off the veil! Remembering the deep truth about "what it means to be a Woman." Love to you dear Sam. ❤

Wow, what wonderful and powerful essay. I love reading and learning about Lilith. As I was reading it, I had a thought. What if...Lilith was the so called serpent in the apple tree? I mean this in a good way.

I had no knowledge of who Lilith was growing up Catholic. I don't believe she was ever taught about. I was an adult when I first heard of her. And that was maybe 15 years ago?

Them being sisters, I can see that as a possibility.

Thank you for writing it and sharing it. I think it is something we all needed to read.

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate your words here! Yes, I too thought about the snake in the apple tree as Lilith. Myths, legends and stories...they shift, change and grow in amazing symbolic ways, bringing and revealing deeper messages and meanings. Maybe Lilith as the Eden snake came to remind both Eve and Adam the power of the Sacred Feminine. I lean that way, I am sure Christianity will stick to the snake being the devil. And I love thinking of Lilith and Eve as sisters. They might not be sisters literally, but sisters in the heart none the less. ❤

I quite literally thought of Lilith being the snake while reading your essay. I can easily see how they could have portraited her as one.

In the Catholic church, they have Mary and the female saints. But, I think that is the extent of it. They don’t focus on the Sacred Feminine. Sure, Mary has her feast days throughout the year. But that’s the extent of it, unless it has changed since I left.

When I was in the non-denominational churches for a time, there was never any talk whatsoever about the Sacred Feminine. It wasn’t until I was at the end of that road, there was one church, on pastor who preached about it. He talked about the feminine aspect, referred to her as Sophia. I thanked him for speaking about it because no one does. I didn’t stay there either though, and soon after I left the church behind.

Sisters, how ever they were, makes sense.

This is such a powerful and potent story to bring to life Julie. I can feel the magic writhing and pulsing through it. We are setting ourselves free from opression and the outdated manuscripts, which carry women prisoner until they beg to be set free. A new painting of richness, beauty and free will is being created and it is glorious.

Thanks so much Louise! Yes agree, Lilith and Eve are strong archetypes in our world. It was healing for me to move beyond the current story being told. See its roots, look beneath them to something deeper. And then to see this pair today in a new light. YES to "magic writhing and pulsing" I could feel it while writing it. Again thanks Louise, touched by your comment. ❤

This post immediately stopped my scroll and my day! I love to see Lilith and Eve together--the whole story put back. Something about the way you've written this, Julie, is so inviting... enticing... and accessible. I feel like I've been welcomed to a feast I've been staring at through a window for ages.

Allysha, thank you. What you have written here really moves me. I am so completely touched. And I too love seeing them together. Bringing back the real and true story. I feel "they" did this. I had no idea when I sat down to write this essay this would be the result. And I have been changed by it. ❤️

Thank you Julie - this resonates with me as I attempt to understand what has happened to us as a nation and what my own path should be in order to get through this period of darkness.

Barbara, you are not alone in that. There are so many that feel that way. One thing I have come to know about darkness is that its the cave, lair and the womb. Challenging to traverse for sure, yet it is also the place of conception and birth. Incredible power there. ❤️
