This is wonderful, Julie! The advice to slow down is so important and you've taken the extra step here of offering actual ways to do that. I so appreciate that part! "...allowing myself to investigate this precious moment." Stop doing and be curious. That's the perfect way into presence! Thank you so much for this. ❤️
Stunning, my friend. A profound reminder to be quiet and still, to invite the present moment to come in and to feel ALIVE by being HERE NOW.
We are living in such a fast paced life. Our childhood, our parents/grandparents childhood was so different...and yet there was so much more appreciation for everything. I feel that in this fast paced life we forget to appreciate...and yet this is the way to SLOW DOWN and to be in the moment.
I find it so interesting Julie that these messages are so consistent, yet, I still find myself resistant in the face of 'what would they think' whilst I apparently languish doing nothing. It is not my own silence that I fear, rather the judgement of a society that has conditioned us to be on the move. I am ready, oh so ready to embrace a new movement that rests, sighs, is still and simple because that is exactly what we need.
Everything you write is perfect timing for me. As a Catholic, I'm going through Lent. This is a time where I need to connect with myself and those around me. I need to slow down and take a break from technology.
I also need to use embodiment practices to notice how I'm feeling during difficult times, not just when I'm feeling happiness or joy. I want to feel more grounded. I want more space, silence, and simplicity in my life. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
I feel like you so often write about things I've been thinking about lately or am needing to hear. I've been thinking a lot about decluttering and finding ways to feel more grounded and in the moment, and I really do think it's revolutionary to just slow down. At the beginning of the year, I read "How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy by Jenny Odell, and this post reminds me of her book. If you haven't read it already, I definitely recommend it.

Oh Julie… great post and I’m going to start using “instead of scrolling try strolling” 💗
